§ Mr. Nicholas Wintertonasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will make a statement on the allocation of funds for the second phase of the Macclesfield district general hospital; and when he expects that work on the second phase will commence.
§ Sir George YoungI understand that at their meeting on 2 June 1981, the Mersey regional health authority decided to bring forward the second phase of the development of Macclesfield district general hospital. Preliminary work is now scheduled to commence in 1984 and building work should start in 1986. The estimated capital cost of phase 2 is £8 million at current prices and expenditure is expected to fall as follows:
