Mr. Dobson

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) whether the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis has issued any instructions on allowing (a) all persons and (b) juveniles held in custody on charges arising from the civil disturbances in London to communicate with persons reasonably named by them in accordance with section 62 of the Criminal Law Act 1977;

(2) whether the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis has issued any instructions about the holding of juveniles in custody following their arrest following civil disturbances.

The Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis has not issued any such instructions concerning the treatment of those arrested in the recent disturbances.
