† The 1979 salary shown is for 2 days a week. From 1 June 1980 Lord Northfield's basic salary rate was increased in recognition of the greater demands imposed on him—including an increase to a time commitment of 2½ days a week—as a result of the special problems facing the Telford Corporation.
