The number of redundancies, involving 10 or more employees, reported to the Manpower Services Commission as due to occur in the Blackburn travel-to-work area between June 1979 and May 1980—inclusive—is 1,608; between June 1980 and May 1981 the number so far reported is 4,267, including provisional figures for April and May.
An estimate of the number earning less than £80 per week is not available.
