§ Mr. Nicholas Wintertonasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if following the reduction in the amount made available for university education, and the consequential decisions of the University Grants Committee, he will list those universities where a substantial cutback in the allocation was made.
§ Dr. BoysonAll universities will be subject to some reduction in grant. The extent of the reduction varies considerably and it would be invidious to try to define a "substantial cutback". My right hon. and learned Friend announced the recurrent grant for each university for 1981–82 in his reply to my hon. Friend the Member for Workingham (Sir W. van Straubenzee) on 2 July 1981, and that for 1980–81 in his reply to my hon. Friend the Member for Cambridge (Mr. Rhodes James) on 3 June 1980.
