§ Mr. Peter Lloydasked the Secretary of State for Employment how much has been spent in the current financial year under class IV, Vote 14, Special Employment Measures.
§ Mr. PriorPayments to the end of June 1981 are estimated at £180 million. This is a far higher level of expenditure than envisaged in October 1980 when the Vote on Account requirement was assessed. The Vote on Account has now been exhausted and recourse has been had to the Contingencies Fund pending Parliamentary approval of the estimate. Repayable advances of some £90 million may be required by the end of July, but the Vote as amended by the summer supplementary estimate is not expected to be exceeded in the financial year.
