HC Deb 13 July 1981 vol 8 c275W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if, in view of the fact that the police now take very much longer to reply to ordinary inquiries than in the past, despite greater numbers of police, civilian staff and electronic aids, he will set up an inquiry into the efficiency of the police in dealing with inquiries of this kind.

Mr. Mayhew

No. My right hon. Friend is satisfied that all chief officers of police are fully aware of the need to respond promptly to inquiries.
