§ Mr. Skeetasked the Secretary of State for Trade how many references have been made by the Office of Fair Trading to the Monopolies and Mergers Commission in each of the past five years.
§ Mrs. Sally OppenheimThe Director General of Fair Trading made five references to the Monopolies and Mergers Commission in 1976, four in 1977, one in 1978, three in 1979 and two in 1980. Two references have been made so far this year.
These figures do not include ordinary or newspaper merger references, general references under the Fair Trading Act 1973, and references under section 11 of the Competition Act 1980, all of which fail to be made by my right hon. Friend.
