asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what recent estimate he has made of the total amount of loan stock he will require to raise in the stock market in the current financial year; and how much he has raised in this way in the financial year to date.

[pursuant to his reply, 9 July 1981]: It is not the practice to publish forecasts of how the PSBR will be financed. So far in this financial year the authorities have issued two new gilt edged stocks with a value of £2.1 billion and three tranches of £250 million of three existing stocks.
