asked the Secretary of State for Trade if he will take environmental factors into consideration when considering whether to allow an operating permit under the Hovercraft (General) Order 1972.

Mr. Eyre

[pursuant to his reply, 7 July 1981]: The Hovercraft (General) Order 1972 provides that any conditions attaching to the issue of an operating permit must be with a view to securing the safe operation of the hovercraft. The order makes no provision for the consideration of environmental factors.
