§ Mr. Simsasked the Secretary of State for Trade what action further to that outlined in his reply of 17 March 1981 to the hon. Member for Chislehurst has been taken by the British Government, the British embassy and the European Economic Community Commission in regard to the profit margin controls introduced in February 1981 by the Government of Greece.
§ Mr. BiffenWe raised this issue first with the Commission and then, in May, during a visit that my hon. Friend the Minister of State, Department of Industry paid to Greece. Since then the Commission, which, on behalf of the Community as a whole, has the prime responsibility for acting on possible breaches of Community law, has taken the matter up with the Greek authorities and has said that it is seeking a quick and effective solution.
