§ Mr. Cryerasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will investigate the proposed sale by the European Economic Community intervention board of 400 tons of mouldering meat in the United Kingdom; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Buchanan-SmithThe intervention board has acted after full consultation with Ministry veterinary staff and the local environmental health officer. Some of the beef offered for sale is known to have been affected by a surface mould. All aspects of this sale will be subject to very tight control and I am satisfied with the arrangements.
