§ Mr. Winnickasked the Secretary of State for Industry what steps are being undertaken by the Government to revive economic activity in the Walsall and Black Country areas of the West Midlands in view of the recent very substantial increase in unemployment.
§ Mr. MacGregor[pursuant to his reply, 9 July 1981]: The revival of economic activity in these areas, as elsewhere in the country, depends on the increased 263W productivity and competitiveness of their industries. This is a task for management and workers at all levels. In order to create the conditions in which this revival can take place, the Government will continue to pursue their economic policies, in particular the fight against inflation, to a successful conclusion.
