asked the Secretary of State for Energy what is the average price of coal, free on board, exported to West Germany; and what was the average price paid by United Kingdom industry for coal in the first quarter of 1981.

The average fob price of coal—mostly steam coal—exported to the Federal Republic of Germany during 1980 was £27.76 per tonne. The price for the first quarter of 1981 is not available.
