HC Deb 13 July 1981 vol 8 c263W
Mr. Ernie Ross

asked the Solicitor-General for Scotland how many cases of alleged baby battering there have been in Scotland in each of the past three years which were taken to prosecution; and how many convictions were obtained.

The Solicitor-General for Scotland

I am not certain what upper age limit is implied in the question but, in any event, since the statistics which are maintained on crimes of assault do not include the age of the victim, nor whether the assault was committed in a domestic situation, I regret that the information requested could be obtained only at disproportionate cost.
