HC Deb 10 July 1981 vol 8 c249W
Mr. Skeet

asked the Secretary of State for Energy if he will identify the areas where new deep mines could be established and where the output per man-shift is likely to exceed 5 tonnes.

Mr. John Moore

This is a matter for the National Coal Board. I understand that possible new mine prospects and exploration are described in the board's annual report for 1980–81 which is due to be published at the end of this month.

I also understand that the Board would generally expect productivity in excess of 5 tonnes per manshift from new deep mines.
