HC Deb 09 July 1981 vol 8 c218W
Mr. Haselhurst

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he is now able to name the venue for the Stansted airport public inquiry; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Giles Shaw

My right hon. Friend has decided that the most suitable venue for this important inquiry is at Quendon Hall, in Essex, which is located close to Stansted airport and to Bishop's Stortford. The necessary notification has been sent to the local planning authority.

On the recommendation of the inspector, Mr. Graham Eyre, QC, the opening date of the inquiry will be postponed from 15 to 29 September to enable further pre-inquiry discussions to take place.
