§ Mr. HeseltineOn 6 July 1978 listed building consent was given for the conversion of this Grade II* listed building into a hotel. I offered a grant of £50,000 towards the cost of structural repairs but this offer was declined and work has not yet been started, However, I understand that the owners have told the local authority that they propose to begin in September. I know the local authority shares my concern over this delay and the consequent deterioration of the Hall. I am asking it to keep me informed and to let me know, if work does not start, what action it proposes to take. I shall consider the hon. Member's suggestion that I take action myself in the light of the Council's response.
