§ The Prime MinisterThe great majority of local authorities are making satisfactory progress with council house sales. A number, however, have been told by my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for the Environment that he is considering the use of his powers of intervention.
The number of council tenants in England and Wales who have now applied to buy their homes under the 1980 Housing Act is more than a quarter of a million.
