Lord Brockway

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What proposals were made to them by the Standing Conference of Afro-Caribbean and Asian Councillors to avoid further racial strife, and what response has been made to them.

Lord Belstead

The Standing Conference of Afro-Caribbean and Asian Councillors have put to my right honourable friend the Home Secretary a number of proposals for action on matters of concern to the ethnic minority communities. They include police/ community relations, urban deprivation, unemployment, education and public information. My right honourable friend met members of the Standing Conference on 24th June and undertook to consider, with his ministerial colleagues, the points they had raised.
