§ Mr. Heddleasked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he will publish the most recent statements prepared for his management information system for Ministers, MINIS.
§ Mr. HeseltineYes. I have today placed copies of the statements of MINIS in the Library of the House and copies are available for purchase from my Department. We shall begin work in the autumn on the third round to cover the period up to March 1983 and I would hope to publish this before March 1982.
The second run of MINIS has fully confirmed the value of management systems of this kind for the public sector. I am concerned that the other public sector organisations for which I am responsible should subject themselves to similar disciplines. As a first step I have recently introduced the publication of quarterly manpower returns and the most recent figures are also published today. Copies have been placed in the Library. I now propose to discuss with these organisations the introduction of management techniques similar to those I am using in the Department and which are already in existence in the Countryside Commission.
