asked the Secretary of State for Transport when work is to commence on the construction of the last stretch of the A34(T) East Ilsley to Chilton section of the Newbury to Oxford link road.

Mr. Kenneth Clarke

The East Ilsley-Chilton improvement is in our main trunk road programme for 1984 onwards. It is too early to give a specific date for the start of construction.
