asked the Secretary of State for Employment whether any change will be made to the cash limit of the Manpower Services Commission.

Subject to parliamentary approval of the necessary Supplementary Estimates, the total grant-in-aid to the Manpower Services Commission—MSC—will be increased from £752.593 million to £760.093 million. Provisions for the increase will be found from within the planned totals of public expenditure by transferring £1½million from labour market service; the balance will be met from the contingency reserve.

The 7.5 million is required by MSC to meet a further increase in demand for places under the youth opportunities programme. The increase in the total grant-in-aid will require consequential adjustments to other cash limits; viz:
