§ Mr. SpeedAbout 1,700 civilian professional and technology staff and 170 naval officers are employed in the ship, weapons and dockyard departments in Bath. Of these, around 200 are directly engaged in the design management of the procurement of new ships and submarines, and around a further 600 are employed in the design management of the procurement of systems and equipment and in support of the Royal Navy's running fleet.
