§ Mr. Kenneth ClarkeUse of low-cost engineering measures, referred to in this valuable report, can indeed achieve impressive accident reductions. I shall continue to take every opportunity to promote the use, and further development, of the relevant techniques. The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents runs, with my Department's support, training courses in their use, and the Department plans to produce, with the help of the society and of representatives of local authorities, an updated version of the related accident investigation and prevention manual. This will complement the excellent set of guidelines on the subject recently published by the Institution of Highway Engineers.
