§ Mr. FowlerTwo-wheeled motor vehicle casualties in Great Britain, in the 12 months ending September 1980 (provisional) were:
Riders and passengers Killed Seriously injured All casualties Motorcycles and scooters 1,120 18,700 60,100 Mopeds 80 2,900 11,000 All two-wheeled motor vehicles 1,200 21,600 71,100 These provisional figures show an increase over the year ending September 1979 of about 7 per cent. for motor cycles and 2 per cent. for mopeds. They further emphasise the need for our proposals in the Transport Bill to improve motor cycle safety.
