§ Mr. Kenneth Carlisleasked the Secretary of State for Industry whether he will list in the Official Report a table showing the level of Government assistance to industry for each country within the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development for which figures are available, in the latest year for which figures are available.
§ Mr. MacGregorAssistance is given to industry in a multiplicity of forms, some more easily quantified and more transparent than others. There are formidable problems in producing data which are comparable between countries. The OECD has not produced such data, though examples of the types of assistance given in member countries were cited in an annex to a report presented to the OECD Council in 1979, entitled "Inventory of the Adjustment Measures taken by Member Governments since 1974".
