§ Mr. Peter MorrisonIn the long term the only way to increase the number of real jobs in Bradford and in the country as a whole is to control inflation and get the economy on a sound footing. This is what the Government's policies aim to do.
In the short term, the Government's special employment and training measures are helping many workers who would otherwise be unemployed. In the Bradford employment office area, for example, the temporary short-time working compensation scheme is currently supporting more than 4,500 potentially redundant jobs.
