HC Deb 26 January 1981 vol 997 c272W
Mr. Kenneth Carlisle

asked the Secretary of State for Trade what obligations for which his Department is responsible are incurred by the United Kingdom by virtue of membership of the International Monetary Fund.

Mr. Parkinson

The obligations of membership are set out in the articles of agreement of the IMF. None of these directly affect my Departmental responsibilities; instead, they bear on currency exchange arrangements and on the holding and use of reserve assets.
