HC Deb 26 January 1981 vol 997 cc276-7W
12. Mr. Cadbury

asked the Secretary of State for Energy whether it is the practice of the nationalised energy industries to relate prices charged to various categories of customer directly to the associated cost of supply, or whether cross-subsidisation between categories of consumer occurs to any significant extent.

Mr. Gray

Economic prices must take account of both cost and market factors. Detailed pricing matters are the responsibility of the industries themelves, but I am not aware of any significant cross-subsidisation.
