§ Mr. AlisonBetween 1 April and 31 December 1980 the Northern Ireland Office received 2,861 claims or notices of intention to claim compensation for criminal damage of which 1,341 so far have been recorded as damage caused by terrorist-type activities. It is not possible to estimate the overall cost of the damage since there is considerable lapse of time between an incident and the settlement of a claim relating to it.
