asked the Secretary of State for Scotland (1) whether the accommodation and facilities in the existing Glasgow Royal maternity hospital are comparable with those in the maternity hospital in the Glasgow district;

(2) how many single rooms there are in the present Glasgow Royal maternity hospital.

The Glasgow Royal maternity hospital has one single room, and a total of 150 beds plus 38 special care baby cots, compared with the following numbers at the other major maternity units in the Greater Glasgow health board area:
