§ 35. Mr. Kenneth Carlisleasked the Secretary of State for Trade whether he will make a statement on the review of statistical forms sent out by his Department.
§ Mr. EyreSince May 1979 the Department has stopped three inquiries, saving 6,000 forms a year, and has cancelled plans to hold a retail shops inquiry for 1981, saving a further 150,000 forms. By streamlining other regularly conducted statistical inquiries, the number of forms issued is being reduced by a further 30,000 a year. The situation is under continuous review and further savings will be made wherever possible.
