HC Deb 16 January 1981 vol 996 c619W
Mr. Nicholas Winterton

asked the Secretary of State for Industry what work his Department's European planning consultant, Dr. D. Green, has done for the Department in 1980; if he will detail all payments made to Dr. Green in 1980; if he will give a breakdown of all payments made to Dr. Green; and what percentage increase or decrease the 1980 figure is compared with the figure for 1979.

Mr. MacGregor

[pursuant to his reply, 15 January 1981]: Dr. Green's work for the Department of Industry during 1980 comprised studies of small industrial zones in France and West Germany for the manufacture of fine chemicals and of French policies for export promotion and industrial adjustment. The gross cost to the Department was 53 per cent. greater than that of work carried out in 1979. Details of amounts paid to individual consultants are confidential.

Mr. Nicholas Winterton

asked the Secretary of State for Industry if he will dismiss the European planning consultant to his Department, Dr. D. Green.

Mr. MacGregor

[pursuant to his reply, 15 January 1981]: The Department's agreement with Dr. Green provides that she will undertake work for the Department when requested. Termination of the agreement is not at present contemplated.
