Mr. Jim Callaghanasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many attendance centres there are in the United Kingdom; how many of these are classified as senior attendance centres; and what plans he has to increase their number.
§ Mr. MayhewThere are 101 junior attendance centres for juvenile offenders aged 10–16—eight of which are also taking 17 and 18-year-old boys experimentally—and four senior attendance centres for male offenders aged 17–20. Four more junior and three more senior centres are being planned. Possible areas for further centres are under consideration.
