§ Mr. Cryerasked the Attorney-General if he will introduce legislation to control police and press publicity at arrests, and to provide restrictions on any stories being published arising from contractual arrangements between relatives, neighbours, friends and other persons connected with arrested persons and the press or television.
§ The Attorney-GeneralLegislation has already been introduced to regulate the law of contempt of court broadly on the lines of the Phillimore report and is at present passing through its stages in another place. It is the view of the Government that this legislation, when and if it receives Royal Assent, will be fully adequate to regulate the matters referred to in the hon. Member's question.
