§ Mrs. Renée Shortasked the Secretary of State for Employment, if he will publish in the Official Report a table to show the average waiting time for vacancies on each course offered by skillcentres in the West Midlands.
§ Mr. Peter MorrisonI am informed by the Manpower Services Commission that on 1 December 1980 the average waiting period for admission to the skillcentre courses on offer in the West Midlands, were as set out in the table below. Such periods are approximate and are subject to fluctation. Figures in the table show the maximum period—in months—for which a person would normally have to wait between the acceptance of an application for TOPS training and starting the course. In particular, many of those on waiting lists do not take up places when they are offered and others are brought forward.
