§ Mr. Dobsonasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what is the method of allocation to local authorities of the rate fund contribution of the electricity supply, water supply, gas supply, coal mining, petroleum production and refining and railway industries, giving details of the sums received from each industry by each local authority and where appropriate giving details o what the sums received by each local authority would be if they were based solely on the rateable value of hereditaments occupied by such industry in the area of each local authority.

§ Mr. YoungerThe aggregate rateable value of these undertakings in Scotland, with the exception of petroleum production and refining (valued by conventional methods) and of the coal-mining industry (not valued in aggregate), is distributed among local authorities according to the methods prescribed in the following
The British Railways Board (Rateable Values) (Scotland) Order 1978, The Scottish Electricity Boards (Rateable Values) (Scotland) Order 1978, The British Gas Corporation (Rateable Values) (Scotland) Order 1978, and Schedule 2 to the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1966.I shall write to the hon. Member detailing the contributions made to local authorities by these undertakings (excepting the petroleum and coal induatries) in the current year. I cannot say what rates would be payable by another method of valuation.
