HC Deb 12 January 1981 vol 996 c423W
Dr. Edmund Marshall

asked the Secretary of State for Industry what payments have been made in accordance with the Industry Acts in respect of the premises of the Howden Glucose Company Ltd. at Howdendyke, near Goole; when those payments were made; and who received them.

Mr. MacGregor

Particulars of assistance to individual companies under the Industry Acts 1972 and 1980 are generally regarded as confidential between the Department of Industry and the applicant. However, since 1 October 1974, regional development grant payments in excess of £25,000 and offers of selective assistance in excess of £5,000 have been published on a quarterly basis in 'British Business'—formerly 'Trade and Industry'.

Two payments of regional development grant to Howden Glucose Co Ltd in respect of its Howdendyke premises, have been published in this way:

£272,000 in the fourth quarter of 1976 and £26,000 in the first quarter of 1978.

No offers of selective assistance to the company have been published.
