The United Nations has appointed an advisory committee to propose activities at international, regional and national levels both for the year itself and for the longer term. The United Kingdom has played an active 413W role in the work of this committee. The interested specialist bodies, including the World Health Organisation, International Labour Organisation and UNESCO are working closely with the United Nations International Year Secretariat and the advisory committee.
