§ 31. Mr. Newensasked the Secretary of State for Employment what steps he is taking to ensure that there are sufficient trained personnel available to staff key skilled jobs in industry in the event of a recovery in the level of industrial activity.
§ Mr. Peter MorrisonTraining to meet skilled manpower needs is primarily the responsibility of employers, assisted by the industrial training boards and other industrial training organisations. The Manpower Services Commission's training for skills programme and training opportunities scheme also assist. The Government and the MSC are currently considering what further action might be needed to help industry to improve its skill training.
