HC Deb 17 February 1981 vol 999 cc113-4W
Mr. John Carlisle

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he expects the European Economic Community Commission to offer further United Kingdom grain to Poland before July 1981.

Mr. Buchanan-Smith

As a major customer for barley from the United Kingdom, Poland is likely to buy more between now and July, whether from the open market or from intervention stocks, under the arrangements and on the terms authorised by the European Commission. At present there are no indications that the Community will repeat the sale to Poland at specially reduced prices of foodstuffs, including grain from the United Kingdom, once the programme agreed in December has come to an end.
