§ Mr. WaddingtonSalaries paid to staff in the Department of Employment, excluding the grant-aided bodies, totalled £82.8 million in the financial year 1978–79—excluding national insurance. The provisional figure for 1979–80 is £90.5 million. The estimated cost of funding pensions in the latter year was £17 million.
