Member for Ipswich (Mr. Weech), Official Report, 5 February 1981, c. 203, when he expects to publish proposals to extend the purposes for which a building society may be established under the Building Societies Act 1972.
§ Mr. Lawson[pursuant to his reply, 16 February 1981, c. 203]: As I said in my reply on 8 August 1980—[Vol. 990, c. 416]—the Government have no immediate plans for primary legislation on building societies. Nor do I have any immediate plans to publish proposals for such legislation.
