§ Mrs. Renée Shortasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) if he is yet in a position to give details of the planned investigations into extremist and racist organisations;
(2) when he intends to start discussions with chief constables about the possibility of setting up special police investigation units into racism.
§ Mr. WhitelawMy officials are examining the ways in which this study can best be taken forward and are already in touch with chief officers of police. I intend to gather a wide range of views on the issues involved.
