§ Mr. Teddy Taylorasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what estimate he has made of the additional payments which will require to be made to the European Economic Community in consequence of the United Kingdom decision to operate a positive green pound for agricultural prices; and if any of this additional sum will fall to be refunded to the United Kingdom in consequence of the decision of the Council of Ministers of 30 May 1980.
§ Mr. Buchanan-SmithThe additional payments arising from the appreciation of sterling on the foreign exchange markets will, like all payments to and receipts from the Community budget, be subject to the agreement on the United Kingdom net contribution to the Community budget. It is not possible to make an estimate of their future level because this will depend among other things on the performance of sterling on the foreign exchange markets.
