§ Mr. Lathamasked the Prime Minister whether she will make a statement on her recent meeting with Mr. Shimon Peres, Leader of the Opposition in Israel; and whether she 331W assured Mr. Peres that Her Majesty's Government totally support the right of Israel to exist within secure and defensible borders, and that they deplore the continuing violence and atrocities perpetrated by the terrorists of the Palestine Liberation Organisation.
§ The Prime MinisterMy talks with Mr. Peres on 23 January must remain confidential. Her Majesty's Government are committed to the Venice Declaration, which includes, as one of its principles, Israel's right to a secure existence within recognised borders. We condemn all acts of terrorism whoever the perpetrators may be.
