HC Deb 11 February 1981 vol 998 cc358-62W
Dr. Roger Thomas

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what percentage of all junior hospital staff, grade by grade, and by specialty, work (a) between 60 and 80 hours per week and (b) between 80 and 100 hours per week.

Dr. Vaughan

The following table shows the total number of hours per week for which junior hospital doctors are contracted. This comprises a basic working week of 40 hours plus additional time spent working, standing by in hospital or available on-call at home, including provision for covering the annual and study leave of colleagues where appropriate.
