§ Mr. Prescottasked the Secretary of State for Trade if he will list the powers he has to hold foreign vessels if they are considered to be unseaworthy.
§ Mr. EyreSection 462 of the Merchant Shipping Act 1894 provides for the detention of a foreign ship at a port in the United Kingdom where the vessel is unsafe by reason of the defective condition of her hull, equipment or machinery or by reason of over-loading or improper loading or by reason of undermanning.
