§ Mr. Stallardasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he has received any notification from the district auditor in respect of the borough of Camden under section 162 of the Local Government Act 1972; and if he will consider exercising his powers under that Act for an extraordinary audit.
§ Mr. KingSection 162 of the Local Government Act 1972 relates only to approved auditors. The accounts of the London borough of Camden are audited by the district auditor, who is empowered by section 161 of the Act to take such action in relation to items in the accounts as he considers appropriate. An extraordinary audit would be unnecessary for this purpose.
